MoMu contributed to the exhibition Manières Noires that is currently on view at BAM, the Museum of Fine Arts in Mons. The exhibition focuses on the fascination with the colour black in plastic arts, photography, cinema, design and fashion of the 20th and 21st century.
MoMu selected a series of 45 items from its collection, which are being currently exhibited in a special room dedicated to the connection between black and the fashion world. The exhibition mainly covers the 20th century context, including an embroidered silk dress from around 1910, a simple but nevertheless stylish satin dress from the twenties, two tastefull looks from the sixties, and an interesting selection of contemporary Belgian designers such as Ann Demeulemeester, Maison Martin Margiela, Bruno Pieters and Dirk Van Saene.
