On Friday May 16th, MoMu will hold its annual symposium. This year’s edition coincides with the current exhibition Birds of Paradise.

Eight renowned speakers, all relevant to the subject, will fill you in on the different meanings and interpretations of plumes and feathers in fashion, and their personal connection to the delicate material: Wim Mertens (in Dutch, conservator at MoMu), Leonie Sterenborg and Rosalie Sloof (in Dutch, Amsterdam Museum), Kenny Damian and Romy Cockx (in Dutch, Modemuseum Hasselt), Frieda Sorber (in English, MoMu), Emmanuelle Dirix (in English, Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of the Arts, London), Alistair O’Neill (in English, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London), Florence Muller (in French, fashion historian and freelance curator), Nadine Dufat (in French, Maison Lemarié Paris).

The Birds of Paradise symposium will take place at the MoMu Library, Nationalestraat 28, 4th floor. After the symposium, all participants will be welcomed at Momu for a drink and free entrance to the exhibition.

Admission: €28 / €14 (students and MoMu+Friends), fee includes lunch and museum ticket.
