For the exhibition Rik Wouters & the Private Utopia held in MoMu earlier this year Dirk Van Saene selected 15 of his own creations to show in the round space. Shown on turning mannequins they gave a brief but remarkable overview of the oeuvre of one of the famous Antwerp Six,holding all typical characteristics of the designer’s style: the attention for detail and craftsmanship, his love for couture, whimsical but thought through pattern-cutting, and his love for art and painting in particular.

MoMu was delighted when Van Saene decided to donate the silhouettes to the museum after closing the exhibition, together with some other pieces shown elsewhere in the exhibition.  These extraordinary pieces are now safely kept in the MoMu storages, being part of MoMu’s precious capital. On a regular basis the Van Saene pieces will be shown to the public in the permanent exhibition to be installed in the new MoMu to be opened in 2020.
